52 followers · 375 posts · Server fosstodon.orgMy dad died in September 2021 at the age of 78 of an undiagnosed #myeloma. That was abrupt, he died 3 weeks after arriving at the hospital, I still often think about that terrible month.
Beside having been a school #teacher, he painted is whole life since the age of 15, and left a large #legacy of #paintings and #drawings. I immediately thought about #digitizing his complete work, even if it looked like a huge undertaking, probably for both said and unsaid reasons.

On-screen #digitizing is a popular image processing technique. Ch. 8.7 from the #MATLAB Recipes book was missing in its #Python sister because of problems with cross-platform code for digitizing images. Now we have both versions:

I've put the Baldur's Gate #aquarelle under the #scanner last night; I think I actually like the results from photographing it with my phone better. The #Canon #MG2550S makes it look rather pale, and some of the brush strokes seem to stand out more?
It can probably be improved quite a bit in post-processing, but I was hoping for better results straight out of the box.
(I also need to do manual cropping, as it doesn't recognise the borders well enough...)
