@lori Trans women is an issue many sports are facing. When they transition is an issue for me. What's the difference between a woman who transitions in their 20's and a CIS woman who uses testosterone in her 20's to improve performance then stops. I think both are a little unfair. Teen transitions this isn't so much an issue.

I don't know the answers but wanted to chime in that having played #DiscGolf for over 45 years that the growth in the sport to have this issue is amazing.

The design rankles too — reminds me of Instagram. Photos are way too big. The TweetDeck-style layout of Mastodon is a huge plus for me (plus all the innovation from participants).

@elai This is very similar to one of my favorite bike routes, at least for destinations: from Aquatic Park disc golf course to Vegan Donut Gelato near Lake Merritt.

What about Mandela Parkway to 14th St? That's how I would probably go... totally agree on avoiding Grand.

I guess you're doing the same thing, just zigging and zagging to cut the distance, but this route is pretty darn simple.

One of the my fave disc golf tips applies more broadly to many practices and also to life in general.

Slow down. Practice it at a pace where you get the details correct. Let your muscles memorize. Get slightly faster til you hit the perfect pace. Get the fundamentals down cold, then personalize your style.

There's a 10-second towel pitch in the middle, but I like this teacher's approach to learning disc golf.

@MananaHammock I'm not much good myself, but these tips have helped me on both sides driving.

1. Start slow and finish fast

2. Think of your arm like a wet noodle whip; let your legs and hips (not your arms) do the work then snap your wrist

3. Position your back foot so that it's behind your front foot, i.e. your hips have to turn more

4. When you reach your throwing point, imagine your shoulder and elbow of your lead side slamming into a door as hard as you can
