I'm still annoyed that #mastodon shutdown their #discourse forum. GitHub Discussions doesn't cut it for me.

@QueeringW haha! Well yep, I guess if there's nothing else, but there are lots of others it's just they're not groovy any more. I still prefer #Discourse over #Discord!

🤔 I never ceased to be amazed how many Mastodon admin features waiting on design could be easily and effectively implemented by just copying #Discourse.

I have been permanently spoiled by #OpenSource software that empowers people who run it, rather than purposely limiting them.

@caarlos0 Yes. This is what I like about #Discourse. The trust system determines how much a user could do right away vs what they earn overtime after contributing to the community.

Looking for a forum #FOSS that I can add big features to as plugins/extensions.

I want to migrate a small community from #Drupal (using the forum module). It has served me well, but it's not a *forum* software per se, so it lacks many community features.

Reviewed #Discourse again but #RubyOnRails is not something I have experience with or want to have it.

Found #Flarum (PHP) which seems to match my goals of minimalism, performance and having an active community behind.

We'll see.

@woof The #Discourse software has this arranged where if a certain number of users totaling a certain level of trust report a specific post, that post will be automatically hidden and placed in the moderation queue.

It would be nice to have on Mastodon but I am doubtful the BDFL would ever allow it.

Planning a reorganization of #InfiniteConversations. I always feel a little sad letting go of an old taxonomy… in this case of channels and sub-channels (for #Discourse categories and sub-categories). Yet new order is forever wanting to emerge from the soup of cognitive chaos which our messy minds have become—as to an overgrown garden we tend. The new arrangement, which comes out of conversations with Gj and @douggins, will be more friendly and appealing to newcomers, we hope.
