#Egyptology #Nubiology Tomorrow in the #DiverseNile seminar series: dr Kate Spence (Emmanuel College) on “Living at #Sesebi: investigating the houses of the New Kingdom town". Seseni, in Northern Sudan, was constructed around 1352 BC by pharaoh #Akhenaten for people working at an Egyptian mining site. Research shows that some of them must have come from as far as Syria.

"Failure in week 5: experiencing major difficulties at Attab West" | Such a frustrating week for the #DiverseNile project, exploring the cultures of ancient #Sudan
"I arrived at the site (...) and could not believe my eyes: every single brick, almost every laid stone block of the structure were simply gone, have been destroyed and smashed to pieces! This destruction was so massive that I was simply speechless and felt completely helpless" (Julia Budka, LMU Munich)
"Our week 3 of the 2023 season was dominated by another drop in temperatures and very windy weather – there were only three days when we could work all day, on the other days too much sand in the air forced us to stop work early and continue with documentation and processing in the digging house."
The weekly blogs by Julia Budka (LMU) offer fascinating insights in the daily practice of archaeological fieldwork in Northern Sudan
