Rather than being devoured by the arachnid, they turned into sticky strands amid the webwork. Not long after that, a group of adventurers slew said spider and moved on. The school gaming club's #DnD campaigns will begin tomorrow afternoon. We'll have three tables. I have to DM one of them, but I'll only have three players (one a complete newbie). I have been playing around with replacing the rather awkward "race" concept in my #osr inspired houserules with backgrounds.
But so far it still is a bit too awkward.

My current idea is that during character generation players can choose 2 (+1 "free") backgrounds from different categories to quickly create a character. that is: in addition to their class. The whole thing is supposed to be in line with characters from other b/x #dnd derived games.
