@peter @Morgunin Hm, back in the 90s until the dawn of #5E, #DnD was still a thing, but e. g. #WoD #Shadowrun sold similar well, some products even better (iirc). Back then I worked for #WDS, the "exclusive distributor" of #TSR / #DnD in Germany. #DnD4e sold (as far as I know) pretty bad overall.
In my opinion, it's complicated, and it's not an all or nothing thing. The #OGL has paved the way for the survival of #DnD as we know it. #OSR clones are everywhere.

@n8flug Voll Zutimmung, Ich spiele #DnD seit #BECMI, aber es war immer eine Art Notnagel.
Ich mag weder die Tropes (#Dungeons, #KillMonsters, #Loot, #Levelup) noch das System bzw. die Welten - zu viel #KITCHENSINK.
#DND4e machte mir als Rollenbrettspiel recht viel Freude, weil es mehr als z. B. #Gloomhaven bieten kann, aber als #ttrpg #lol. Ich verstehe das "Festhalten am #d20" nicht. Bin wohl "kein Mainstream".

Yesterday #Frosthaven, the big and heavy(!) successor to #Gloomhaven, arrived at my house. Without a doubt, #Gloomhaven is an impressive game that never fails to excite me. At the same time, our #DnD 4e round offers so much more variety and creative freedom. Apart from the cards, both are similar on the board....

I think *my time* with these overhyped #DungeonCrawl / #BossBattle games on #Kickstarter & Co. is over. I prefer #ttrpg or #battlemap #ttrpg (like #DnD4E).

#Tauschen? Mit ist das #FalloutWastelandWarfare RPG von Modiphius „zugelaufen“. Das Fallout Setting interessiert mich nicht wirklich und das Spiel ist auch nicht so meins. Im Wesentlichen handelt es sich mehr um einen Skirmisher mit Story Mode, ein bisschen so wie #DnD4E back in the days. Vlt. mag es ja wer von euch gegen gebrauchten pnpde-stuff, einen Apfelkuchen oder ein selbstgemaltes Bild tauschen?

Unpopular opinion: Modern #dungeoncrawl #boardgames, such as #Gloomhaven, #Frosthaven and #Oathsworn, remind me massively of #DnD 4e, which was rather not well received by fans. People prefer to spend a lot of money on a ton of plastic, cardboard and other frippery instead of playing the much more flexible #DnD 4e according to their needs. What's the point of a Gloomhaven #ttrpg? Some generic #fantasy fluff, trade dice for cards?
#DnD4e, some creativity and a few miniatures may offer much more!

Als #PnpPerson frage ich mich bei stark narrativ unterfütterten (Apps, Vorlesetext) Skirmishern/Taktikspielen auch oft, warum man dann nicht gleich zu einem traditionellen Rollenspiel mit Battlemap-Fokus greift, sowas wie #Pathfinder, #dnd4e oder #dnd5e
War auf jeden Fall schön, mal wieder ein paar Miniaturen über den Tisch zu schieben. Respekt für Leute, die sowas anmalen können! 5/x

System (might) matter(s), Leute sind für mich wichtig(er).

Daumenregel: Die Leute sind cool, dann probier ich jedes System (grundsätzlich). OK, an #DSA bin icke gescheitert...

IdR. finde ich in jedem System etwas Cooles. Manche Spieler*innen sind extrem inspirierend und bringen mich dazu, Grundsätzliches zu hinterfragen anzupassen.

Ja, #DnD4E … and „I love it“, m.E. die beste, weil „ehrlichste“ Edition.

Ich amüsiere mich köstlich, daß Leute (#FleeMortals) nun in #DnD5e 4e-Konzepte „breit“ nachbauen und teuer verkaufen. Bin kein #DnD ler und noch weniger #DnD5 ler, kann ich zum Balancing quasi nichts sagen. Balancing wird überbewertet…aus meiner Sicht.
