First on Bernie's condition, unfortunately he has still been unable to pass urine on his own even with the medication and the vet trying to express the bladder. This means this afternoon he has again had to be sedated and have another catheter fitted. They are hoping they can keep this catheter in for 48 hours so he can have surgery on Monday."

Walking into the bustling food pantry to drop off this week's harvest had me weeping as I drove away.

As I'm giving the harvest and itemizing it for the staff, a woman asks for two of the bags of green beans being loaded into the fridge and all the food, minus one squash, from last week are gone.

The Brussels region in Belgium wants to introduce legal obligations for large supermarkets to donate unsold food.

Eurostat estimates that roughly 10% of all the food made available to EU consumers ends up in the trash. In 2020, that amounted to nearly 59 million tons, according to the EU.
