Dandies: the decorated gems of the 19th century. โจ
Dandies displayed a particular proclivity when it came to fashionable dress, going to extreme lengths to achieve the masculine ideal of the time. ๐งต๐๐ป

I am sat on my sofa under blankets, with a cup of tea within reach and a cat by my side. My fatigue is bad but I am looking at images of C18th quilted petticoats trying to work out whether any of the silk satins I have in my stash are comparable to the ones used in the 1740s. I am struggling to focus so might shift to some easy knitting instead.
There. I began. No more pressure to write the first post here.

Any scholar of #MaterialHistory or #DressHistory or #FiberArts can tell you the value of antique textiles, and how most humanities scholars can tell you about how archives conceal as much as they reveal.
Well, the same is true of recreation. Looking at an object, even using an object, cannot give you the kinds of knowledge that comes from making and remaking.
That work is hard as fuck and there is so much failure along the way. So, so much failure, and so much reward.
