Yesterday we made a day trip to #Canberra to learn about some of the #HarmReduction services available there to people who use #drugs. It was a real eye-opener; I've been reading and learning about harm reduction and #DrugPolicy because of my work on the #DeathPenalty for drug offences, but it was the first time I got to see such services up close.

There are only a few days left to comment on the DEA's proposed #DrugPolicy rule change for #telehealth prescriptions, which they claim will make it easier for their investigations by consolidating all #prescriptiondrugs information in a single place by the physician. On the other hand, it seems like the benefit would be minimal, and it would only worsen vulnerable patients' ability to get medically necessary treatment.

When I saw this branded content on #TheStraitsTimes' website yesterday (it was also promoted on their Facebook page), it frustrated me as both a #journalist and an #activist who has been working for the #abolition of the #DeathPenalty and for serious reform in #Singapore's #DrugPolicy. There is so little space for open, evidence-based discussion about drugs, drug use, and drug policy here. We need public education, not copaganda.

They cite a study comparing the relative harms of #NOS and #poppers but if you check the actual study (produced by #davidNutt 's excellent #drugScience) you can see it rates #alchohol as 10 times more harmful than both.
