Sorry filmmakers, until you've done real work on Frank Herbert's philosophy you can't make Dune happen. He spent ~10yrs on it, and it's not just some exotic spice (ahaha), but the thing that gives the story its sparkle. This movie is closer to what Dune fans want (yay), but for a person who hasn't read the book (guilty) it's just weirdly slow, boring way too often, and literally beige (Swedish slang for lame/vanilla) 3/5

I went watching Dune (2021) at theater, and I won't deny being really impressed: in the of wake Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival, Villeneuve managed to gift the spectator with an immersive cinematic journey into wide-angle framed landscapes of Arrakis. He successfully reinvented Dune, while still keeping as true as possible to the novel and Lynch's movie.

As a side note, I had the chance to get a cool poster for free.

So I went and saw Dune yesterday. As a hardcore Dune fan, I went in with low expectations and was totally blown away by this movie! I just couldn't fathom how they managed to film every scene from the first half of the book and even added little bits here and there! The movie felt like 4 hours, but positively. Also it was wonderful to hear that the movie was filled to the brim with traditional throat singing in the soundtrack.
