I’m a cultural historian at Leiden University and specialize in #earlymodern #forgery (ranging from fake news to forged prints), especially in the Dutch Republic and Britain.
I will spend the next few years building a new Special Collection of fakes and forgeries produced in the #DutchRepublic - on that note, here’s one of the elephants in the French edition of George Psalmanazar’s An Historical and Geographical Description of Formosa (Amsterdam, 1704). #introduction
