Re Disengaging: In the #Nyingma tradition it is perfectly normal (and of equal status) to be a householder practitioner, and it is said that many householders achieve full awakening.

Under #Dzogchen the disengagement is more mental than physical, one trains to be not captivated by the sensory world, whilst still operating in it.
Of course, periods of meditational retreat are extremely helpful (essential?) in gaining that ability to be actively detached.

A Brief Presentation of the Nine Vehicles

Broadly speaking, the first two are practices of the Theravada communities, the rest are all within #Mahayana.

4 - 8 comprise #Vajrayana,
9 is #Atiyoga, a.k.a #Dzogchen.

@michaelflanagan According to #Dzogchen the #nonduality state is the base, the underlying of all experience but that doesn't correspond to our common experience.
Unless we went through an "awakening" experience, induced or spontaneous, we live in a world divided in three states: Wakefulness, dream and (deep) sleep.

In this system the state of non-duality corresponds to the sahaja samadhi that when deepened leads to the sate of Turiya.

If you look at the list of interests I posted previously, you will easily see that the kernel of my interest lays on the east. #IndianTantra #Vajrayana #Taoism #AdvaitaVedanta #Dzogchen and #Buddhism are the core of my understanding of the spiritual way.
I don't claim either any kind of originality. The trademarks of the teachings belong to the respective schools I just try to make them clear to the common lay people that happen to develop any interest on them.
