The interaction of thrombocytopenia, hemorrhage, platelet transfusion in VA #ECMO: in this multicenter observational study occurrence of thrombocytopenia considerably higher than currently recognized!
🏥 >400 pts included; during #ECLS almost all pts developed thrombocytopenia

Lactate in refractory #OHCA: post-hoc analysis of Prague OHCA Study
⏱️ early lactate levels (measured anytime during first 24 h after admission) correlate with outcome of patients undergoing #ECPR

🧊 What about decreasing body temperature to manage refractory hypoxemia, decreasing CO & VO2, on VV #ECMO?? This in silico study predicts that use of therapeutic hypothermia might improve oxygenation. Cooling to 33°C increased SaO2, PaO2, SvO2 & PvO2. The improvement is greatest when the underlying problem is high cardiac output with low EBF/CO ratio, but there is still benefit if high recirculation.
