As new wildfires broke out in Greece, we are coordinating emergency assistance to the country via the #EUCivilProtection Mechanism.

This means:

✈️ 8 firefighting airplanes from our #rescEU fleet recently doubled

🧑‍🚒 246 firefighters and 40 vehicles.

When #Slovenia asked for emergency support via the #EUCivilProtection Mechanism, EU countries immediately responded, in a remarkable display of #EUsolidarity.

So far, 🇦🇹🇭🇷🇨🇿🇫🇷🇩🇪🇮🇹 and 🇸🇰 have offered essential equipment and supplies consisting of:
⛑️ 4 helicopters
⛑️ 9 bridges
⛑️ 14 excavators
⛑️ trucks and loaders

The assistance also includes multiple teams of engineers and liaison officers, totaling over 130 European personnel.

Slovenia and Cyprus are among the latest countries to activate the #EUCivilProtection Mechanism due to floods and wildfires.

The Mechanism:

🤝 pools resources of #EU countries and partners,

⛑️ boosts reserve capacities with #rescEU aircraft fleets and medical stockpiles,

🛩️ mobilises specialised teams and equipment.

The EU’s Emergency Response Coordination Centre coordinates the response, working 24/7, 365 days a year, to ensure the timely delivery of support to countries in urgent need.

Today marks 3 years since the tragic #BeirutExplosion, its scars visible still today.

#Greece yesterday requested the activation of the #EUCivilProtection Mechanism and the @EU_Commission@social.network.europa.eu is sending four (4) Canadairs.

At the same time, @vonderleyen wants to send 50 billion euros to Ukraine.

It is clearly much more beneficial for a country NOT TO BE A MEMBER OF THE @EU_Commission@respublicae.eu in order to get the most possible help and more money and hardware from #Brussels.

As wildfires are ravaging Attica, 🇬🇷 requested the activation of the #EUCivilProtection Mechanism yesterday.

We are responding by:

✈️ deploying 4 Canadairs from our fleet based in France and Italy;
👩‍🚒 👨‍🚒 sending three firefighting teams from Poland, Romania and Slovakia for a total of 220 firefighters and 65 vehicles.

In addition, three pre-deployed firefighting teams from Romania, Bulgaria and Malta are already in action.
