It's an app for #PipeWire providing a toolbox of audio modifications you can stack to do noise reduction, adjust an equalizer, use a compressor, do echo cancellation, and run through a speech processor, and more.

For watching something, you'll want to adjust "output" > "effects" and add some of the mentioned effects.

(It can also adjust input.)

I’m pretty sure you know if you are using X11 or Wayland for display, but what are you using for a sound server?

Turns out PipeWire is not a default audio server even though PipeWire is preinstalled on Ubuntu 22.04, but not enabled.

#easyeffects for #pipewire allows to do things to your audio input and output on your computer (if using pipewire; there's also pulseeffects for pulseaudio).

These things include: speech enhancement, echo cancellation, dynamic range compression, equalization and stereo crossfeed.

I'm now using the compressor, crossfeed and equalizer (auditory fatigue reduction) to emulate the behaviour of my #rockbox portable digital audio player. It's been great so far.

For that alone I'm very happy that I made the switch to #PipeWire 🎙️🎧

Since I got #bluetooth #headphones, the #audio levels sound like they're multiplied by a factor of at least 5. I have to use #easyeffects to lower the #volume to an acceptable level.

I setup EasyEffects to implement the HiFiScan EQ curve, but now easyeffects is in my list of pulse devices, but should never be the default device, so I had to update my pulse audio switch script to account for that.
