Logging into #Elasticsearch using #Serilog and logs in #Kibana. Create Index, Index Pattern and play a bit with Kibana Dashboards. Now your logs are more visible. What are you waiting for to use in your Apps ? #DotNet #Logging #restfull

Lately I've been playing with #elk stack #elasticsearch #kibana and also #metricbeats. Here my first step using #metricbeat for #redis. Kibana showing its metrics and its infra inventory ;) I'm really happy to get that ! :)

And it took longer than I had hoped, but here is the job listing : https://www.fastly.com/about/jobs/apply/?gh_jid=5136533&gh_src=96cb8a6e1us

Have you done Elasticsearch administration at scale (~ PB+), live in the US, and are looking for a job?
If so please let me know. I don’t have a job rec to point to yet, but an adjacent team is starting to hire.

It seems weird that #Elasticsearch won't let you delete an indexed field from a mapping.
Yeah, sure, you can't go from not indexed to indexed later because that's a whole heap of reindexing required. But why is setting a field to "not indexed" not just a quick "drop that part of the index"?
(Yes, I could reindex. No, I don't want to and I'll live with the extra indexing)
DB-Engines Ranking climbers of the month:
1. #DB2
2. #Elasticsearch
3. #AzureSQL
https://db-engines.com/en/ranking
2/ targeted towards a more general audience. Thakare/Laddha/Pawar's Hybrid Intelligent Systems for Information Retrieval looks like a possibility...
Also open to books that approach from a specific #search implementation perspective, e.g. #Elasticsearch, #Solr, #Lucene...but most appear to be older / specific subtopic focused.

#Postgres is shapeshifter. In #Marten we're changing it into document database and event store.
We provide built-in read models. Projecting events straight into Postgres gives you enough power for most common cases. Yet, sometimes you need to do more.
I wrote today, how you can build a projection to other database using #Elasticsearch as an example.
What other database types you're using as read models?

It's always encouraging to see how many #Elasticsearch forum posts that appear to be asking the same thing as your want were closed with no answer 😐
20+ yrs and still going strong - Hibernate is still making progress in making itself useful for the community such as Hibernate Search, which provides automatic indexing of #Hibernate ORM entities into Apache Lucene or #Elasticsearch 👍

Easiest, cheapest way to ge an ElasticSearch instance up and running?
Want to us it to test Gitlab Premium. If we like it we'll set a proper one up

#CaseStudy - learn how Netflix built Marken - a scalable annotation service using #Cassandra, #ElasticSearch & #Iceberg.
Marken allows storing and querying annotations, or tags, on arbitrary entities. Users define versioned schemas for their annotations, which include out-of-the-box support for temporal and spatial objects.

Finally managed to build the first version of "escuse me", my elasticsearch query tool. nothing really to see here, except that it works for my needs. no documentation yet, but a beautiful banner https://github.com/go-go-golems/escuse-me
How many folks are actually using #Postgres full text or trigram search instead of #ElasticSearch or an alternative? I'm finding PG text search to be simpler than I originally thought, and the prospect of cutting out another service is quite attractive.
I just learned about #typesense, an alternative to #elasticsearch. Didn't try it out yet personally, but what other devs at the company told me, it's quite fun to use.
Also has a #python api client btw.

The final part of our 3#petabyte #Elasticsearch cluster upgrade series is out.
We discuss the benefits of the upgrade and provide more details on our new architecture.
If you work with Elastic and #bigdata, there's lots to learn in this post.
