Notice it has been internally (solely by #element team) decided that states counters on the room header were going to be removed from Element Web/Desktop. You will need to find a different solution if your workflow depends on it.

In news nobody here needed, I will be another step closer to cool when #Honda #Element #camping fairly soon.

I went with an ice-based cooler rather than a freon-based AC or an evaporative cooler (it’s almost always too humid here for those).

I wanted power flexibility (for sites w/o electric hookups) that could work either with my current power pack and solar or with its own battery.

It will be useful for storm season as well, I think! The only drawback will be ice availability.

I would like to say #schildichat is officially #element Community Edition.

Se hai, come me, più sessioni Matrix aperte (telefono, pc, altro client etc) e a un certo punto vedi uno scudo grigio accanto a ciò che scrivi in una conversazione criptata già autenticata, basta dare il comando /discardsession per farlo sparire!
La cosa mi ha fatto impazzire per un po', poi il dev di SchildiChat mi ha illuminato su questo punto nella camera dedicata. È stato molto soddisfacente :)

federated chat protocol sounds like a bad idea, sending messages should be instant, but AFAIK it can take up to a minute to send one message to all recipients.

but still, I would love to hear more about matrix P2P, that could be awesome if they work out a problem that all parties of the chat have to be online for a message to be delivered and AFAIK they somehow fixed that

To #element users: submitting a bug report about visual regressions is recommended.

Lately one of the team members at @element integrated radical changes about UI w/o conducting enough tests, let alone edge cases (as there are neither enough manpower nor those who provide free labor), and there has appeared a bunch of regressions which made the software look unsophisticated: https://github.com/vector-im/element-web/labels/X-Regression

Without a bug report about the edge case you experience, it will not be fixed like forever.

Hey there! I'd like to make #element with #matrix a corporate messenger at my university. But there are some requirements:
1. We don't need to store files on the server, only on the recipient's device.
2. We need to automatically remove log files every week.
How can I do this? Is it even possible?

I'm trying #cinny to replace #element as a daily #matrix client because not only it is one of the featured clients with beautiful and consistent UI, but also I've been really fed up with governance of vector-im, to which I had essentially provided just free labor.

If you like a simple UI centered on text based communication without a bunch of features such as widget and thread, cinny should be a better choice than Element, though the client seems to lack basic features like permalink.

I go to the kiosk in a local shopping center to fill up bottled water. The orange Element is often parked there. I figured it was somebody who works at the nearby hardware store. (It is.)

Today I got to meet the owner of the orange Element! He was really cool! We chatted briefly and I gave him a stuffed toy crab keychain. (It’s an #Element thing.)

There were FOUR E’s in this lot at the same time. 😍

I would recommend you to stay away from contributing to #Matrix SDKs which power #Element for a while.

The team's work behind them is not transparent, the developers guidance is arbitrarily applied, and one member's personal preference is seen to be superior to the documentation.

This is an unacceptable for the #FOSS project, which belongs to the Foundation, not the company behind it.

For someone like #GSoC2023 #gsoc candidates; be careful out there! There's a lot of unspoken, unwritten, internally shared rules. Your PR will be effectively rejected even if it works, unless it aligns with their goals, which you have zero chance to know before you submit a PR.
