ElfQuest was an important comic series for me growing up; I collected hundreds of single issues and then collected volumes. It's still something I like to reread.

Most of the ElfQuest material has been available to read free online for years at the official website, and now they've updated the site to use an embedded PDF instead of images. It's a little more clunky, but viewing the page source gives a PDF url to download each issue.

Collectors will cringe at the sight of these but I'm sharing anyway. I can't tell you how many times I read these as a kid (as you can tell from the state of the covers and corners). Absolutely formative for me as a person and a #fantasy reader. I thought I loved it for the art and storytelling, and I do, but ultimately it's the challenge to heteronormative assumptions that made this both super challenging and deeply comforting for my 80s/early 90s teen self. #Elfquest

So now the introduction. Originally from a small town in Oklahoma like the Emond's Field -Two Rivers of #WOT. I cut my teeth on #Tolkien, #UrsulaLeGuin, #StephenKing, #Elfquest, #Dr Who et.Al. I lost my inner reader for a few years. In the Army, I was pointed to the Wheel of Time. I finally began reading this year. It is no exaggeration to say the Wheel of Time saved my 'inner reader' from certain death! I was unmotivated by the material i was seeing. I envy those who met Robert Jordan.
