Do people actually read through email newsletters?

I've signed up for some really nicely designed one. Ones with lots of relevant content but that long-format reading... I can't do it.

Maybe it's just me. I like my emails in bullet points. I keep saying I'll go back and read them but life moves too fast.

With all the talk of image pre-fetching at Gmail, Yahoo and through and Apple MPP we've mostly ignored Microsoft consumer mail domains. Today I logged into one of my old-enough-to-vote Hotmail accounts. Last time I was in there I noticed there seemed to be no way to turn off image loading. Today I discovered there is a way, but it's hidden 2 layers down in the "junk mail" option. (A thread) #Deliverability #EmailMarketing

Some company harvested my email address from LinkedIn and sent me an email asking if I'd write an article about their product. I agreed to write an blog post about how they were harvesting addresses and violating CAN SPAM (no unsubscribe, no physical postal address). Told them I was always looking for examples of how not to do things and companies to warn my readers away from.
