@fahrrad_fahrer witzig, dass das nur durch #encrochat aufgefallen ist … Aurubis hätte das wahrscheinlich bis heute noch nicht gemerkt. So wie sie gerade auch erst nach und nach merken, wie viel sie bestohlen wurden …

Yes, they put a trojan on *all users* of #EncroChat. Because a judge was persuaded only a criminal would use it.

Targeting *specific, named individuals* with a warrant is what we have to accept as the cost of law-enforcement. No different to mail intercepts, phone-taps, and searching homes.

IIRC #EncroChat sting involved hacking the update server and putting a trojan on the phones.

Personally, I don't have too much of an issue with that sort of targeted, court-approved action. In the UK that is already possible under the 2016 RIPA, though has apparently never been used.

@tomstoneham and lets not forget #EncroChat where multiple courts threw out the evidence and from the 60.000 hacked only 6.000 ish had any form or court case the first place.
