This quote is awful:
“Where we are chipsealing the road surface, there will be some loose chip around, which is completely normal.”
It should not be normal though! Crews do a bad job of cleaning up excess, if they do it at all. My experience is they just wait for car traffic to clean it for them and then *maybe* they come by for the piles. I’ve seen streets with bucket loads piled in the gutter for a year or more.
It’s a terrible surface barely better than a gravel road.
So many autism-spectrum people have such sophisticated and quality humor—like more than neurotypical types—specifically their #toots (and their bird droppings on the #birdsite).
I'm not trying to make anyone AWARE of #autism, like look at these puzzle pieces (I NEVER got that...what, here's a ribbon for...a problem with no answers? Like, dumb). It's been obvious to me for years (!) at this point that obviously so many of us are either on the autism spectrum or otherwise neuro-atypical, so if I went on about that I would definitely be virtue signaling.
I'm interested in something else. Like especially what was once known as "weird-[birdsite]," which seems to have plenty of like-minded people here, and the hilarity of their absurd humor. Inventive from a perspective I could never mimic. And so many neuro-typicals have, imho, embraced absurdist humor on micro-blogging sites because of atypicals brinfing their humor out of the closet in all their comedic genius—demonstrating the universality of the human condition, whether your mind is typical or not.
I'm not saying, "You know we're all people!" like an autism tinted Atticus Finch, but beyond that, while all our minds interpret reality from different starting points, it won't change that all people share the human condition of living in an unfair world, which all things considered doesn't make a lot of sense, and the sense it does make is inconsequential—it only describes our world, it doesn't make sense of it.
So you just need to laugh.

@sandypsj Yikes, sounds like my city's housing staff's views on ADUs. I was on the affordable housing committee and specifically said, don't include owner occupancy requirement. Let the Council do that if they want, civic associations can call for it, but it should not be staff's recommendation because it is a bad idea. Shocker, it was in their staff report, Council adopted it and 10 months after implementation, a dozen ADU permits were granted in a 160k city. #endrant
If you look at #reality—peek behind the curtain it uses to cover itself—it's like we're in one big casino; the decks are stacked, the games are rigged. Or like Tammany Hall, now we're in the new roaring-20s, only 100 later. And #everybodyKnows, goes the song, and that's how it goes.
Now if you're a gamer and you begin to see reality through the #gamer lense, you will mistake reality for "integral reality," where they, and game developers, both believe that—like code—anything is possible. And both #gamers and #developers have been caught cheating or manipulating fron the back end. So bamboozling generations of people, like watching a puppeteer's performance, BUY IN and accept the games universe. But it blurs the line between the reality we wish we had, and the reality that actually is. Our minds are gentle edifices—you can easily fuck yours up beyond all recognition. #truthandreality #endrant

@Alexander_R wow I did not know his politics other than being against totalitarianism. Russia is interesting in a "may you live in interesting times" Chinese saying kind of way. A far right...humanitarian. I don't mean to bleed my heart all over this toot, but it's a libertarianism we don't often see as an alternative to fascism. But the dysfunctional societal psychology of Russia is at least as messed up as the American one, and imho way more meassed up. They're still processing revolting against the Czars, and Clinton snaps his fingers and it's supposed to be a democracy (you know, we can see what a panacea democracy has been). Russia's like an old and new country all at once—they don't know what the fuck they want, they just want a government that finally works! We are both lost, still fledgling nations, but it took the US 200+ years to get to this point, and we have a ways to go before you can call America "healthy"—and Russia joined the modern world in 1917. Like half the time the United States had to grow into a new nation, in a world that's been sped up a billion notches. So, damn; #PutinsWar is more about our global existential crisis, and not just literally, but figuratively, too. Ok I'm done. #EndRant
“One sec”
“Working on that”
“Just a moment”
“Sorry, there was a problem with Apple Music”
“Something went wrong setting your scene”
“I can’t do that here, please try again on your iPhone”
The #HomePod has so much potential, but it is completely maddening in its current state. Can’t understand how #Siri is so inconsistent, I never have any of these issues on my iPhone. I really hope #Apple finally gives HomePod and Siri some much needed attention #endrant

"Irreconcilable Differences" Assuming the people were in their right minds when legally marrying (and that's, tbf, a big assumption), what differences cannot be reconciled? Short of something like brain damage or the loss of a child—with time, effort, compromise, and sacrifice—what is impossible to reconcile? And is "reconciliation" that precludes reformation from counting as progress towards reconciling something even achieveable? It makes it sound like #marriage is this impossible puzzle. As if marriage being difficult is somehow different than any worthwhile—everyone has a bumpy road.
So what's the point of bailing? The stats are against you for finding a lasting relationship after #divorce. What goes on in your mind? What insane laws are these? Why is the law involved in marriage in the first place? People who suck have not even close to an understanding how much they suck, it's like trying to fix stupid sometimes. #endrant
I just hate #WindowsPC updates.
I quickly wanted to add a few books to my eReader. Should take 10 minutes, tops.
Booted pc, logged in. Went to loo. Came back...
"windows is updating"
Nooooo!
It started 45 minutes ago and still isn't done. I could have been done for almost half an hour.
Guess this is why I don't use my PC too much. Windows going for automatic updates, even if you turn it off... 😔
This, I guess, is a longwinded way of saying that I think grabbing quotations from non-public-figures on social media is a practice that should be circumscribed.
Like undercover reporting, it's ethically fraught -- and it may well have its place on occasion. But I think it should be a relatively rare thing, and shouldn't be done without a serious editorial discussion about whether there's a better, cleaner way to get what you need for a decent story. #EndRant
