I'm trying to rule out compression lows as a cause of my nocturnal hypos. I'm pretty sure they are artefactual, but not due to compression - I think they are due to dysautonomia causing changes in interstitial fluid (more on this in a future post). But I want to know if ppl think this contraption - a big sensor cover, would actually do its stated job of preventing compression lows:

My point of view:

You don't stop anyone's hydrocortisone if you aren't an endocrinologist.

Add prednisolone on top if needed, decrease the pred dose by 5mg if you want but that is unlikely to matter. Do not stop hydrocortisone when you start prednisolone, it just adds a risk nobody really wants.

It's another late night so I'll just write this out..

This week has been a rollercoaster for us! I've been in and out of the hospital and sleeping in a recliner scooted up to my husband's bed since I called a rescue squad on Monday to take him to the ER after he became physically weak, confused/barely responsive and had noticeably lost muscle mass in his limbs after only a couple of days. It turns out that Morgan was undergoing diabetic ketoacidosis(!!!!!), which was caused by:
- months of his blood sugar and lipid levels in his blood slowly rising from weight loss (from exercising and dieting)
- steroids that were meant to treat a rash triggering an autoimmune reaction

The endocrinologist is still trying to confirm what happened exactly since he'd never had issues with steroids for treating his skin problems/eczema and he'd never been diagnosed as diabetic before (although he has the genes from both parents). We're waiting to hear back on the antibodies test that will help determine what kind of diabetes Morgan has but, in the meantime, I'd like to say that he is recovering and should be discharged from the hospital within the next few days.

This was a helluva way for Morgan to find out he is diabetic. Oh and the rash he was initially trying to address? According to the ICU doctor, it was most likely a diabetic symptom that we didn't put 2+2 together on and it began to recede after Morgan started insulin therapy. 😵‍💫🙃
