@athairbirb I condemn uncategorically violence against Mi'kmaq fishermen and their property. There's a reasonable summary here: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-mikmaq-fisheries-nova-scotia-treaty-rights-explainer/
But it may be useful to explain why the non-indigenous fishermen are upset about an unregulated Mi'kmaq fishery: that part of Canada experienced one of the great modern #EnvironmentalDisasters 30 years ago, when over-fishing (not by the Mi'kmaq) drove the cod to the brink of extinction.
