Bromont had their Visual Arts Symposium this weekend. It was our first time going to downtown #Bromont and absolutely astounded and elated to see the bustling main street filled with 125 artists showcasing their artwork. Beautiful paintings galore, but you really have to go there determined to spend a hefty amount to bring a canvas home. However, worth the visit to see local talent showcase.

30-50mm of rain projected for #Estrie on Friday. Les Cowboys Fringants cancel their appearance at La Fête du Lac-des-Nations, which is a week long festival in #Sherbrooke, and replaced with Simple Plan as headlining show. Big plus of this fest is the nightly firework show. Though I get that it’s not the most friendly for critters in their natural environment. They also keep touting about a drone show but keep mum of time and date 🤔

Rain storm and flooding not enough? How about hail and a tornado to add to the mix for the end of the day? Wishing much luck to #Montreal, which has more ripe conditions for a tornado. We'll be getting more rain in the evening but not as much as Monday night.

The torrential rains have flooded parts of #Sherbrooke, including Bishop University’s campus, a camping island, and forced 300 ppl to evacuate. Luckily, we live on the hills. But it’s the first time I’ve seen our tiny rivers swell up to over 20ft!

Hold onto yer life jackets, it's going to rain 30-60mm today alone in #Estrie. We have a warning to stay away from rivers and streams which can overflow. I know in #Sherbrooke the Magog river is only about a couple of feet below pedestrian pathways under bridges. It wouldn't take much to flood them, but they have draining valves for this purpose.

Anyway, the rainy summer continues, I call this monsoon season.

Quebec may not get #cherryblossom season, unless you're at the #MontrealBotanicalGarden, but we do get apple blossom season, usually around mid to end of May. Here are a few shots that I took at the Botanical Gardens in the year where the cherry, plum and magnolia blossoms were out in early May 2021.

If you're in #Montreal, try to visit when these are in bloom!

In #Estrie, it seems that the apple orchards also have their season end of May, could be a good time to visit.

All this train talk really makes me wish that #Estrie would get a move on in getting the Orford Express (or at least that rail line) moving again within the region. I never got to experience it, but would be nice to get passenger rail here again.

Also, support your local flower farms! There’s a growing movement of flower farms that offer locally grown bouquets, seeds and bulbs. Better for the environment, get better varieties and not become wholly dependent on imports from Holland. I learned last year that Victoriaville even has a peony society where they compete for best blooms for this flower!

Fête des Semences de l'Estrie à #Sherbrooke est cette fin de semaine 🌱 C’est déjà commencé aujourd’hui de 9h-16h et demain Dimanche, à la même heure.

Au début j’étais pas vraiment dans le jardinage mais une fois que j'ai pogné le bug de fleurs coupées 💐 je me suis dis que je vais faire pousser rien que des fleurs, pis mon mari poussera nos fruits et légumes 😆

Mont-Orford et Magog avec des navettes autonomes d’ici 2025. Je trouve ça intéressant! À la place d’un train et des rails, si on trouvait un moyen d’un transport collectif dont on n’aurait pas besoin de bâtir des rails mais tout autant capable de transporter plusieurs personnes plus qu’un autobus, je suis pour. Pis en plus, sont tu cute ou quoi! 😍

Je réalise que je fais partie d’une toute petite population en #Estrie qui est sur Mastodon. Déjà là que depuis que j’ai déménagé ici, tout le monde est sur Facebook, mais vraiment moins sur Instagram. Que faire? La technologie bouge plus vite que les résidents Estriens. J’attends avec impatience pour que les médias se retirent de Twitter. Mais bon, on est là.
