I finally got approval for my little study that I want to run alongside my main project. It’s some of the charity environment I’m based in most days. I basically sit and chat with the clients most of the time, so I figured I might as well write the experience up as an actual study - I learn a lot from my conversations that’s worth recording

For my degree, I did a , study of alternative club culture.

I want(ed) to document all the tiny subcultural facets of because, when I went to the journals - there was pretty much nothing. There was some stuff about and but that was pretty old.

I feel sad that a subculture that is such a part of many people's identity isn't documented more.

From my research archive, a fascinating instance of popular knowledge from 14th-century Spain: this appears to be a reference to the Jewish diaspora in India.

Earlier this year, one of our PhD's @branwen_p@twitter.com went to Ghana for fieldwork 🔍 There she did research, looking at dynamics of exchanges between local & migrant . One of the methods she used was this associations exercise 👇

@d2ns I'm all for open access but I do think isn't really realistic. It's hard enough for journals to find reliable punctual reviewers. Fewer people will be willing to review work when it means they'll invite scrutiny and critiques of their review.

isn't relevant in work. It's far closer to the role of a deeply embedded reporter than wet lab tech.

of qualitative runs into ethical issues. Can't publish 3k interviews about sexual assault
