This is an 1815 watercolour of a (now destroyed) tomb. Unusual pottery vessel found in second chamber shown in the foreground, clearly not Neolithic (and presumably intrusive and much later). Is it or something else?

Origin of the dollar sign. This 1 shekel weight was found in Jerusalem and dates to between 700 and 600 BCE. This number 8 looking "S" letter sign is not Israelite but derives from the Island and traditions. This letter seems to represent the word "sakalu" meaning "a hoard" and "to acquire." From that comes the Hebrew word "shekel." It weights 11.38 grams.

This Alphabetic Akkadian letter is the source of the dollar sign ($) via the Spanish. When Spain underwent a coinage reform in 1497 CE, the dollar was introduced as Spain’s new unit of currency being valued at 8 reales. Its full name was "peso de ocho reales" or "weight of 8 reales" or just "pieces (pesos) of 8." This shekel/dollar weighed 27 grams. This was the main coin of the British colonies which later became the United States.

Fiery redhead deity Thu (whew!) who is the pantheon's connective motion power associated with wind/breath/spirit (Laurel wreath). A good side view close-up of Thu is in Orcus tomb 1 (490 BCE). Notice the side hair which is the main identifying feature. This deity's hermaphrodite nature is seen in a close up (not shown) of corner scene from Etruscan Tomb of Shields (distant view shown). Bronze Piacenza liver text associates Thu with . Thu is both linguistically and as evidenced by archaic Athenian coin (512 BCE). Owls are magical motion class animal spirits in the Druid texts. Coin text is Akkadian A'e meaning "motion powers." It is incorrectly translated as Athe in Greek by changing the central letter to theta, a change not supported by other contemporary texts but that is how "Athena" name originated.

More on the Etruscan bronze statues.

Starting in 2020, funded by the San Casciano dei Bagni municipality, archaeologists unearthed a large marble pool of an ancient sanctuary. It was decorated with fountains and altars to the gods , his son and Asclepius' daughter .

Archaeologist Emanuele Mariotti says that finding so many objects in their original site provides a unique historical context.

@E_Mondragon Not in particular. But yes, the adapted script in itself is fascinating; reminds me of eg πŒ“πŒ€πŒ”πŒπŒ€ ('rasna' their autonym)

Close up of the filigree from the which was found in 2009.

This torc is likely about 2300 years old and is very distinctive, unusually showing a very (probably or ) style of . However, there's no reason to suggest it has to have come from continental Europe, as and were travelling all over at this time.

Isn’t this extraordinary?
Protected for 2,300 years by mud and sacred pools, a votive array has re-emerged from the excavations at San Casciano dei Bagni, in Tuscany, with over 24 extremely finely wrought bronze statues, five of them almost one metre tall, all complete and in a perfect state of preservation.
