The 20 countries that use the euro currency and their 346 million people saw modest economic growth of 0.3% growth in the second quarter of the year but the outlook remains relatively weak.

On an annual basis, the Eurozone grew by just 0.6%, its worst performance since the recession of 2020-21.

Meanwhile, employment in the euro area is up by 0.2% in the second quarter, marking a 1.5% increase compared with Q2 last year.

The ECB launched a consultation on new euro banknote designs.

Seven themes have been chosen to reinvent the look of the euro notes that will be in circulation around 2028.

On Monday the European Central Bank (ECB) opened an online consultation that will last until 31 August, aimed at guiding the new look of the banknotes, to test the public's opinion on seven major themes, which the graphic designers will use as a basis.
