1) Had the most hits in the 1973 World Series with 11

2) Was the 1st Met to drive in 100 RBIs

3) 2nd player to hit a HR as a teenager and in his 40s (Cobb)

4) At his retirement, he was the only player with 500 hits for 4 teams

5) 65th on the alltime doubles list with 499 and led the NL in 1967.

The 1981 Montreal Expos was the only Expos team to make the playoffs, winning the LDS 3-2 over the defending champion Phillies, but losing the LCS 3-2 to the eventual champion Dodgers.

The team boasted three All-Stars in Gary Carter, Andre Dawson, and Tim Raines. Carter and Dawson also won Gold Gloves.

An impractical #Montreal fact I learned on this trip:

The Montreal #Expos logo looks like it says “elb” because that’s an E for Expos, a B for Baseball, and then there’s a… tongue? issuing forth from that lowercase E and climbing up the B to force the whole logo to look more like a capital M.

An absurdly delightful design-crime. I love it.

Also the Expos disbanded after the 2004 season? I had no idea, which I suppose means I stopped paying attention to #baseball forever once the #RedSox won.

Dennis Martinez is one of 8 pitchers w 100 wins w two teams (Orioles 108, Expos 100) and the only one eligible for the HOF not inducted (Sabathia will be eligible in 2025). Martinez, the 1st MLB player from Nicaragua, finished w 245 wins which is the most by a Latin player and 54th overall alltime.

Martinez famously pitched the 13th perfect game in MLB history "El Presidente, El Perfecto!"
