Aktuell wird die gigantische Kuppel des Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) der Europäischen Südsternwarte gebaut. Sie soll später das Teleskop beherbergen. Das ELT wird voraussichtlich 2027 fertiggestellt und ein Jahr später den wissenschaftlichen Betrieb aufnehmen.

The Dome is currently being put together patiently, following the IKEA assembly instructions, at the base camp -- we call it the Lego site.

The light blue part is currently being worked on and installed.

Cerro Armazones. From down here, you can already see the walls of the Extremely Large Telescope taking off from the mountain top, and even the first row of the several of the dome metal structure.
But it could've been Mars.
