Schachweltmeister Magnus Carlsen hatte angekündigt, seinen Titel nur gegen Firouzja verteidigen zu wollen. Allerdings liegt der nach der 6ten Runde des Kandidatenturniers auf dem letzten Platz. Bei noch 8 ausstehenden Spielen ein kaum aufzuholender Rückstand.

Sieht eher danach aus, als ob Nepomniachtchi oder Caruana das Turnier gewinnen - und dann möglicherweise den Titelkampf bestreiten, weil Carlsen ggf. verzichtet. So oder so: spannend.
