Not been watching the World Cup this year, but I read about yesterday's match. As an Irish Spurs fan, let's just say I'm deeply conflicted about Harry Kane's penalty miss.

Apologies to my English friends, but England winning the tournament would have made the English media completely insufferable for about 15 years, so I can't say I'm sorry they lost.

But I have a lot of affection for Harry Kane, so I am upset about the manner in which they lost.

Some genuine heartbreak, some OTT self pity.
That said, the outpouring of English grief following defeat against France may be embedded in a false expectation that winning the World Cup would have been some sort of global retribution - and one in the eye - for a world that now considers England as a political and cultural laughing stock.

A new era begins for #France in Paris on Sunday as Fabien Galthié and Shaun Edwards take charge for Le Crunch.

It's an incredibly young, rebooted squad, all in prep for RWC 2023, so today should be interesting. Both teams are fielding debutante fullbacks.

England has a few changes, but nothing eye popping given their RWC outing.

This is the first match for England post-Brexit, so here's hoping the French fans have plenty to say about that debacle.
