I’m a big fan of Stacey Abrams' Fair Fight Action and one of their actions this summer is amplifying the efforts of Black Voters Matter, which is having a summer Freedom Ride.

This week, BVM is will be traveling by bus for a voter outreach tour from Mississippi to Washington D.C., making stops in key southern states. 

BVM’s Freedom Rides for Voting Rights, which continues the tradition of the original Freedom Rides, comes as more than 40 states consider legislation to restrict voting rights, which would have a disproportionate impact on Black communities. In addition to voter outreach and engagement, the bus tour will raise awareness about this harmful legislation and empower communities to combat restrictions to early voting, absentee ballots, and other important reforms. Show up and help spread the word.

We all owe a big debt of gratitude to Ms. Abrams and her colleagues at Fair Fight. If not for them, Mitch McConnell would still control the Senate and he would be able to obstruct Joe Biden’s effort to stamp out the pandemic and every other effort we need to restore this country and move it forward.

Stacey Abrams not only deserves space in this paper, but in all media. What she says about restoring democracy is completely reasonable and vital in importance. Denying it is not rational or objective.
