Been converting old dvds from when I was a new mom. Heartwarming stuff of my family, my amazing son, my life.

But the sad part is the relentless self loathing comments in these, the constant talk about BMI I engage in.

This is just before I went into extreme dieting and exercise. This is where I am still reeling from being put to a special "obese & pregnant" clinic while expecting. And I can see that this is where it all got to me, where it broke me. 1/ #FatLiberation

@Loukas It really is. We always seem to come back to the assimilation of the Other to the "normal".

And the roots with demonizing bodysize are firmly in racism. The history of the BMI for example highlights that. In my mind we can't really be anti-racist, anti-fascicst, leftist or any of that if we aren't also firmly for #FatLiberation.

The way fat people get "fixed" to fit in is also similar to the logic of conversion therapy. Once you see it, you can't really unsee.

The new found f's to battle fat stigma within pharma and medicine is just a new way to pathologize fatness and bodysize.

Emphasis is now on the "look we are just helping". It is this all about making money from the perfect money making tool that is the futily of weight loss.

The one "cure" you can always sell to people, over and over again.

Because it's not a "cure" and people return to their size after these "cures" stop and buy some bs "cure" again.

Had a small look at the comments in the fat positive article on Yle News (Finland) today and we have some of the classics:

-We need to be allowed to bully fat people because we care about public health and public funds.

-Comparing fatness with things like smoking.

-Assigning health to body size in general.

-Dancing uncomfortably around the word FAT. Just say fat.

Fat activism in our local news. It is an interesting timeline where they go from a weight loss article to this in under 24 hours. I also find it interesting that in these the comment section is almost always open for opinions from "both sides".

So incredibly tired of clothing companies marketing their clothing as ‘for every body’ and then carrying only up to a size 3x or size 24 (usually with a size chart that shows their sizes run small). That’s no where close to everyone! You can’t say your size inclusive until you are actually size inclusive. At minimum that’s a 6x or size 30. Minimum. 🤬 #fatliberation
