@namy Favorite: #FateOfTheNorns . The rune system is the most innovative mechanic I have seen in a #TTRPG . It's a design philosophy more akin to the euro board game sphere. Can't recommend it enough.

Worst thing about it is the rulebook. It's hard to figure out the game from it. I can teach people and get them playing in under 2 minutes. After that the rulebook is a fine reference. But the game has a lot of usability issues like that.

#FateOfTheNorns developed the "Runic Game System." The runes make for the most innovative mechanics I've seen in RPGs. They're not just randomizers.

Every check is a coin toss in #NeverTellMeTheOdds . You have to wager something on each check.

#introduction I've been here a couple weeks, but I'm migrating here for its larger #ttrpg community. Here pretty much just to talk and learn about that.

I enjoy GMing more than playing. I like lots of games, but I prefer those where the fun can be found by engaging with mechanics, rather than "get out of the way."

@EvilWriter The runes from #FateOfTheNorns . They replace dice and integrate into action economy, character abilities, and character health.

@s5photog Changed for me a bunch, too, over the years. #ForceAndDestiny was my first game away from #DnD, and going into the pandemic #DCC was my number 1.

@TylerRoseRPG At the other end of the complexity spectrum, there's #FateOfTheNorns . Complexity there arises primarily because of rune/hand management, conditions, strings, meta tags, but there's relatively little number crunching most of the time. (3/3)

Lastly, my Friday group has been going through the beginnings of 'Outlaws of Alkenstar' for #pathfinder2e for a while now. but it has been stalling due to various players' real-world aggro (for which that group is very understanding of). That may be coming to a quicker close as I find myself needing to run more #FateOftheNorns in preparation for #GaryCon next year

@Role_Play_Chat Light or heavy does not matter much to me, but my favorite is when the mechanics hold up as interesting and engaging in their own right.

#FateOfTheNorns is a game like that at the heavier end. #SentinelComics is a lighter one.

I found them when I first saw their cover of 'Hypa Hypa' by Electric Callboy and have dug into the music of Saltatio Mortis ever since. A recent few comments today about #FateOfTheNorns and what I'll be doing with it in the months to come got me thinking of this song. So here's a littlw morning #music to start your day.
