This is a major factor into why I chose to focus on edutainment for TILvids, why we curate our creators, and why we are going to have a very selective #federation approach. Other instances (and services like Odysee) have tried the approach of having almost no limitations on the type of content allowed, and it almost always leads to the same types of toxic outcomes.

I have no interest in #tilvids falling into this same cycle.

And for those that say a few things about the devs. I'm a #socialist. They have different servers for different people that are all part of the #Federation. I like to be on servers that don't tolerate any hate of any kind.

I'm not gonna run my own #mailserver, but I'm thinking I may host my static site, Mastodon, Gitlab and a few things like these.

But then I'll have to get into hardening Linux and the apps...

Or just find a good #DisasterRecovery workflow (backups into putting the things back up elsewhere)

You'll even find these structures in the :fediverse: , may it be [de]#federation, #moderation, signups, rules, etc.

Because these are independent of the economy, as the non-profit nature of most mastodon instances show.

Been doing playing on #threads. Not really much there: basic tweeting. No #federation, no dms, no formatting, no hashtags. But it seems superactive, people are so excited. Nice job of filling in what might be an initially empty feed with popular stuff, you’re right into it.

The Fediverse is the playing field and every instance needs to abide by its practices so I don't see how Meta would have an overpowering advantage if other instances come up with a plan and are prepared for possible drawbacks. Just one angle. Also, Meta would be able to put up its own instance regardless, right?

To build off of the current #Meta conversation, I think that overall it is a good thing that they join the #Fediverse but we, the open source users, should be quick to cut off their #Federation if they choose to behave in ways that go against #OpenSource and #openstandards principles.

If they come, contribute to the source, assist with ironing out the standards, and work as a member of the community, then I'm all for it. If they don't, we bubble them and continue like we have been.
