This is a real, real bad one. It seems an instance dedicated to CSAM and should be suspended right away!
"pettanko.art"
Instead of putting things onto #FediBlock where it's hard to find and sort, how about a publicly crowdsorced blocklist then?
https://github.com/greyhat-academy/lists.d/blob/main/activitypub.domains.block.list.tsv
One where additions and removals are public and thus scutinizeable?
https://github.com/greyhat-academy/lists.d/issues
Yes. There's the hashtag #FediBlock and there are also various ready-made blocklists you can upload to your server.
More info including links to the blocklists at https://fedi.tips/importing-ready-made-server-blocklists-on-mastodon/
@ssundell @communicationscholars @sociology @cat_static @Gargron @GjikaPhD Excellent point. Now that you point that out, even with the right coding and updates, bad actors could always write and include work arounds. It would require constant patches which would a) need a way to monitor and somehow know about all the coded workarounds which seems impossible and b) wouldn't stop them until they already existed and were implemented by bad actors. I think you're right. The only way to ensure safety is for @Gargron to stop making #Mastodon #OpenSource, leave the trusted, moderated instances where they are now, and not allow independent instances, or new instances. I'm starting to rethink being a part of Mastodon. #FediBlock of course only works after the fact.
#mastodon #OpenSource #FediBlock
@cat_static @GjikaPhD @sociology @communicationscholars It should go without saying that just about everyone would take the safety of children over 100% #OpenSource. What this requires, and what I don't think these researchers realize, is that it would require @Gargron to rewrite #Mastodon in such a way that even the open source software would prevent complete free-for-all use. I would be surprised if @Gargron would be willing do that, instead relying on #FediBlock, but it should be something that should be researched.
#OpenSource #mastodon #FediBlock
@cat_static @GjikaPhD @sociology @communicationscholars This excerpt sounds good in theory, but I'm not sure it is possible when literally anyone can download, install, and run a #Mastodon instance on their own. From what I have seen over the last year, #FediBlock does indeed work as a pretty good safety measure by large, but even that can't stop anyone from starting their own instance. What this writer is suggesting would require a complete revision of how Mastodon works. I suppose with the right programming anything is possible.
Artists, especially #furry or #queer artists, need to get off mastodon.art and admins need to limit or suspend the Mastodon.art instance for the protection of their own users. Repeat harassment campaigns against furries and queer instances have come out of Mastodon.art's discord servers with zero repercussions. #FediBlock
Okay, since some instances seem to have missed it so far:
#FediBlock: cum.salon

I have in fact heard now that Threads is actively sheltering hateful accounts, refusing to moderate them when reports come in.
It's still probably academic as I'm *also* hearing that if Threads joins fedi, they'll probably only federate with huge instances anyway, but if I can corroborate the reports I've heard I'll probably suspend them. #FediBlock threads.net
Facebook was instrumental in dividing the US in half and helped fracture our nature. With that power if you were #Facebook you'd see ActivityPub as the threat and one of your best shots at killing it is to fracture it's user base.
We don't need Threads to actively do anything. Threads is the shot in the sky to infuriate the masses and fight amongst themselves.
We are damaging the #Fediverse without #Threads even having to do a damn thing.

For those instance admins wanting to avoid the NFT garbage, mastodon.teia.art seems to be an NFT instance. I've suspended them on frankly.social
If you want to block a possible future Meta instance from your instance, here is the domain to block:
threads.net

FYI: There is a far right libertarian instance, where right-wing people spread right-wing lies and conspiracy crap. Maybe you should defederate.
You can also block on individual level.
