I’m trying out #Fedigarden as a new #mastodon #client, but it still need a lot of polishing. Hashtags open a web browser to the hashtag page of the instance that the message with that hashtag was initially written on, instead of inside the app, which is what I would expect. (So in this case, #Fedigarden would for instance open https://mstdn.social/tags/Fedigarden )

When you then return to #Fedigarden, the app has lost its place, and shows “No discussions” in both panels.

But the look and feel is promising

#FediGarden ist ein kleiner, feiner, kuratierter Instanzen-Finder, der Instanzen nach verschiedenen Kriterien auflistet und dabei nur Instanzen kennt, die neben dem offiziellen Mastodon Covenant für "ordentliche Server"⑴ noch folgende Bedingungen erfüllen:
- weniger als 50K User (damit nicht alle User auf die größten Instanzen gehen)
- offen für Anmeldungen (mit oder ohne Bestätigung)

Tomaten sind raus aus dem Gewächshaus, Kürbispflanze ist weg, Kürbissuppe kocht sich gerade. Morgen folgt hoffentlich: Chilicleaning im Gewächshaus, dann tüchtig jäten, dann #kompost rein. #FediGarden #garten #gemüse

Gardening is off to a good start this weekend. Possibly finished. Dead-headed the giant patch of salvia in the front and planted up an herb bed in back.

I planted rosemary, purple sage, Turkish oregano, thyme, calendula, and Zaluzianskya capensis (night phlox). Mostly things I’ve grown from seeds or cuttings taken as much as a year ago.

Today in #FediGarden fun, I propagated a bunch of things.

Finally, there are two apples and a peach I planted at the same time as the blackberries. I think the Fuji isn’t getting enough water and that’s why it is barely leafing out. #FediGarden

There are 3 blackberry bushes I planted over the winter. They don’t seem to be producing new canes yet, but they bloomed and set fruit. #FediGarden

There’s a volunteer squash in the middle of the tomatoes, plus two zucchini a I planted in grow bags. The beds get drip irrigated, but so far I’ve been handling the grow bags by hand. It turns out that even with a daily soak the bags lose so much water you have to sit them in a tub to avoid wilting :( #FediGarden

Then there are the two main vegetable beds, with beans, onions, peppers, squash, tomatoes, and more basil. Also the remnants of failed seed starting. #FediGarden

The back patio has containers with spearmint and more basil. Just off the patio is a little herb garden area with rosemary, culinary sage, thyme and oregano. Maybe the calendula counts too? #FediGarden

Next to them are 3 artichokes I started over the winter. With luck they’ll start producing next year. In the meantime I think they are decorative. #FediGarden
