We tend to ignore the turdsite stuff.

Since Monday, a new interest of ours is in using the peer-to-peer network (#I2P) to #democratise fediverse #contentDelivery. So when a person positively interacts with a toot the content is retained to be served by that person (if they have not flagged content and their battery is above 50%).

In this context moderation becomes self-fulfilling, and the use of I2P protects the users from survellance and targetting.

Fediverse appears to be replicating the worst elements of #socialMedia now, including enabling and empowering the #botFarms.

It seems to be just replicating the worst elements of the #closedSilo systems, just in a #decentralised way.

We suspect that the way to get to the heart of this issue is to '#followTheMoney'. Where is money pouring into fedi and why? Why has Mastodon not taken long-time software thieves #HellaDoge to task, but jumped on others?

@mahaska Sigh, another Mastodonsplainer who didn't read my text. Also, please don't assume I don't know how this place works. I'm just saying that there could be some basic adjustments that would make its use easier.

I'm not talking about an algorithm promoting popular tweets, even though you can see in my posts that I'm very much in favour of some basic algorithms to organize posts in a way that makes sense.

So let's say I'm RTing post A, which is popular, and a minute or two later, I'm RTing replies A12 and A17. In the time between these, other people publish posts, let's say posts C, D, K, and P. So for one of my followers, their feed will look like this:

A17
D
A12
P
A

What purpose does it serve to show posts A, A12 and A17 out of order and separated? They form a continuous whole. Ideally, I'd like my followers to see something like this:

K
C
A...
... A12
... A17
D
P

That way, the three posts that make sense together are paired together. Otherwise, the replies on their own make little sense. This is not about popularity contests or paid placement. Just about making sense. The threaded display sucks in general here, it would be good to improve it.

When RT'ing a post and a couple of the best replies, it would be nice if a microblogging site was smart enough to semantically group these items together to highlight their relationship, and in order, when shown on a follower's timeline. Of course Masto threads are broken so that's never going to happen here. #FediMeta

@andrewjbtw Even more annoying for me is that the self-search for tagged posts, e.g. https://mamot.fr/@nemobis/tagged/copyright unconditionally excludes public replies, in addition to any unlisted posts. If Mastodon doesn't want to do QTs (I know "they're coming" but I bet they'll be turned off on most instances), they should copy the "skeet with parent" feature on Bluesky, where skeets are sometimes shown with the skeet they're replying to. That would be a safe/r way to share a toot's context. As it is, most replies in my TL are unintelligible without their context, and I don't care enough to click to load an extra page for each of the toot replies for half my feed.

Are there two versions of the #FediPact? I see some claims that signers commit to defederating from #Threads, and other claims that signers commit to defederating from not only Threads but also any servers that federates with it.
The range of choices that I consider acceptable is pretty broad for me, but I consider both extremes—federating with Threads and not moderating its abusive users effectively, and blocking not only Threads but also anyone who federates with it—unacceptable. #FediMeta

When you invite a friend to the fediverse, do it with an invite to a specific server (invite link if it's closed, and server link if open) you think they'd enjoy.

This is more likely to help them find a good home on here, and not end up on any of the big poorly managed servers.
