Tschüss Twitter, Hallo Fediverse: Elon Musks Plattform heißt nun X und immer mehr Journalist*innen suchen sich neue Dienste, um sich auszutauschen. Für Interessierte veranstalten wir gemeinsam mit dem @tibhannover eine Party mit Workshops im #Aufhof in #Hannover (ehemaliges Kaufhof-Gebäude in der Altstadt). Open-Data-Enthusiast*innen, Journalist*innen, Startups und Forschende treffen sich dort am 14. September von 16 bis 18 Uhr.

Das fühlt sich sehr gut an, wenn eine Idee aufgegriffen wird!

Tut zwar jetzt nichts zur Sache, aber bei einer #Cryptoparty geht es nicht nur um E-Mail-Verschlüsselung. Die der @dchsg enthalten zusätzlich:
• Sichere Passwörter und Passwortverwaltung mit KeePassXC
• Festplatten verschlüsseln mit VeraCrypt
• Spurenarmes und anonymes Surfen mit Firefox und Tor
• Smartphone statt Taschenspion

Die #Fediparty mit @ueckueck und mir begann gemächlich, wurde aber spätestens dann wild, als @yanzi ihren Account in Betrieb nahm und überlegte, Gemüseinfluencerin zu werden. Erwartet von ihr schöne Fotos von hässlichem Gemüse!

@vxst Thanks. What this tells me is that probably the maintainers of the #FediParty list are not the best people to recommend instances to people behid the GFW. It would be great to see an alternative list focused on that (extremely difficult) task.

Is there any way to help test other providers to see whether they can be an alternative to CloudFlare for your needs?

Sometimes we also have to remove many instances from the #FediParty list. :(

Instances behind #CloudFlare aren't listed, because there are already hundreds, and this centralises a lot of #fediverse network traffic in #AS13335.

@sigstart There are many concerns with #CloudFlare, but for #FediParty the main one is that it reduces decentralisation as so many users will end up going through CloudFlare webservers/proxies.

Another class of concerns is with their compliance with #GDPR post #SchremsII (easier to comply with EU-controlled services) and the general hostility towards #Tor users (can be configured but it's tricky).
