@wookieeboy
#Fedilab does this really great, by giving you another instances local timeline in another "tab".
(I actually just deleted the screenshot showing this from last time I recommended @apps for this exact reason )
It's really all I use for the fediverse, also supports multiple accounts and other nice stuff.
@mentallyalex
Check out #Fedilab @apps, not only does it handle mastodon quite a bit better than the web interface, it also besides out to other parts of the fediverse, like mastodon alternatives and #PixelFed and #PeerTube.

This evening I pushed a #Prosody community module that acts as a #UnifiedPush server. It allows apps on your phone to receive push notifications, using #XMPP as the delivery channel instead of Google's proprietary FCM or regular polling.
It uses a protocol devised and implemented by @daniel and all credit goes to him for this idea and first implementations.
It's all experimental stuff, but I'm already using it to get realtime notifications in #Fedilab ๐

@rcteske @TipsyDixit @donmelton @lolennui Someone told me the other day that the #fedilab mobile app allows you to "follow" instances, too, so you can even easily look at such feeds.
Tap your avatar to open the side menu, hit "Manage timelines", hit the plus on the top right, add an instance.
Quite nice (I follow e.g. photog.social for times I want to just look at pretty pictures).
OK, I need #Fedilab help:
I believe there is a quick way to block hashtags and I thought it was by long pressing.
But even if I create a filter I can't get rid of posts with WorldCup in them ๐คฌ
I do not understand how that post managed to come out like a "quote tweet" - I maybe poked at something in #Fedilab? Is it a feature or a bug?
If that app has a user guide to its buttons, I haven't found it.
@meetingcpp
Great, I use something like it extensively. #Fedilab will even rewrite the URLs for me, but not everybody knows about these methods.
@BlueCocainex3 Do you mind sharing something about why you like #Fedilab better? I have used the official app but switched to #Tusky.
@grumpygamer
If you are on android use #Fedilab, then following instances is about as easy as following hashtags ( that you can now also do without Fedilab )
@DavidBFox
@mforster @chandlerc
#Fedilab allows you to follow instances (Doesn't allow you to see what's going on without following, but that's another thing ๐ )
Hi @apps (or anyone who knows) could you tell me what do the following three icon symbolize?
The outermost ones seem obvious (follow and unfollow), but the middle one is weird... it seems to act as "follow" but I've no idea why there is a minus sign like on the unfollow...
#askFedi #FediQuestion #Fedilab
@patricia
Using #Fedilab, if the profile looks thin I can "open in browser" and that gives me a much more usable view ( can see following, followers, boosts and (public)toots).
Another workaround would be to look them up on the instance.
Still doesn't help with bad actors trying actively to create seemingly benign alts.
@mikebabcock
That's weird since I just edited today ( using #Fedilab ) and we are on the same instance ๐ค
