Today is the 90th anniversary of the birth of a true great, Nina Simone. I will never forget hearing her voice for the first time. It was the late 90s. A friend gave me an album as a gift. My absolute favourite song in the world: 'She Is A Cloud' by the #Japanese singer Aiko Shimada. She lives in the US and mostly writes her (beautiful) lyrics in English.
The song describes a girl who is unreachable, dissolved by her own #sadness into 'a piece of cloud'.
