If you have a shop nearby, you might want to see if they also have the Playbox of Sweden "maleveske" on offer for 69.90 NOK. Clas Ohlson has the same set in their permanent assortment, rebranded, but at 129.90 NOK usually, so almost double the cost.

While aimed at kids, I've personally found the oil pastels to be quite satisfying, and even the water colour paints where vibrant and a joy to play with. Of course I don't expect lightfastness and they don't list the pigments used, but so far my rainbow whirlpool painting is still brightening up one of our walls. :)

Unfortunately I can't check how my oil pastels drawing of aurora borealis over Tromsø is doing, as I accidentally left it at the in-laws and haven't seen it since, and my peacock feather in oil pastels is too recent anyway.

really enjoys using his box from time to time, so I picked up two more yesterday; one for me, and one to either restock his, or to use as a gift.

Stepping out of my comfort zone a bit for today's drawing by using a medium I'm not really familiar with: alcohol markers.
I recently picked up three Winsor & Newton Promarkers from the clearance bin at Staples, and wanted to give them a try.

Since my palette is rather limited with just three colours, I wanted to draw an example that was also rather limited in colours. Having recently watched Many a True Nerd's playthrough of Metro 2033 Redux, I decided to pick a scene of the Dark Ones near the end of the game.

I kind of like the results (though I think I prefer my monochrome version best?), and I might pick up some more colours if they still have them on sale, the next time I can pop in.

Soul shade

We got a set of from an offer at our local the other day, so after some experimenting last night to get a bit more used to this weird medium that's not quite markers and not quite water colour paint, I ended making this quick sketch with them.

I started off with the tree as I wanted to play around a bit with greens, and then decided I wanted to turn the pink spot in the top right corner that was leftover from last night's blending tests, into a pink and blue sky.
Filled up the remaining whitespace with a yellow beach.

Not quite sure if these are really for me, but I do like how the sky turned out.

I can certainly see their appeal, especially on the go, as they require far less setting up. Basically just need a surface, a drawing pad, and some water to fill up your water brush reservoir.

had his drawing box out again, and after seeing @welshpixie excited over her oil pastels, I wanted to draw some with them again too.
@Siiw recently mentioned that one of my unpublished muro drawings reminded her of , so I figured I'd try one of those with kiddo's .

Most of the lines could've perhaps been a bit thinner (though that's prob kinda impossible with these ), but overall I'm quite satisfied with the outcome. :)

Anyone got any tips or suggestions when working with this medium?

Bought a kid's for , which contains a variety of pencils, water colouring paint, water colour pens, a marker pen, and an assortment of oil pastel .

After seeing how they stood out on a black sheet of paper while trying them out with him on the train, I decided to take them out for a spin myself too.

Ended up drawing an scene using a photo from Aurora Borealis Tromsø as guideline.

Quite satisfied with how it turned out, but I think I need to look up some tips for using . :)

The black mountain outlines feel a bit too blurry; probably need to go over them a second time for a bit more crisp details.
