I started to read Tom Jones in my late teens, I don't think I every finished it. I started to ready it because I liked the character of Tom as portrayed in a TV adaptation. Tom is vigorous, drunken, yet good hearted. I guess I aspired to that at the time.
One thing I enjoyed about Fielding's work was his ability to summarize the chapter in a sentence or two for the title. Reading the chapter feels more relaxing when you know up front what's going to happen.
I enjoy content warnings on Mastodon for the same reason and indent to make mine as Fielding-eque as possible.
