Arroz a la cubana is a full meal -- rice 🍚 + egg 🍳 + plantain 🍌 + greasy ground beef typically with some bits of veggies and sometimes raisins 🐮

I discovered it late, in its last few months. Food was actually decent and reasonably priced. Any resto that serves good #Filipino breakfast combos (a.k.a. #silog 🍳🍚) gets extra points with me. As a cherry on top, they also served freshly-cooked turon and good coffee.

I'm always ordering the same foods. I thought I'd try something different, but not too different.

Ordered this Southern Style Chicken Fillet with Almond Bread. Good fried chicken. The almond bread is alright -- it's more like pancake than bread. Not bad.

But...

In slang it's called longsilog* -- which is longganisa (pork sausage) + sinangag (fried rice) + itlog (egg) and normally served with atsara (pickled veggies) on the side.
