For my #fortran tensor toolbox (module) I'd like to add some unit tests. Unfortunately, my knowledge and experience in Fortran ends with writing this little toolbox and some user materials for #fea software like #abaqus or #marc. Do you have any recommendation or tutorials on how to add unit tests to a #fortran module? Ideally with Github Actions integration... 💡 Thanks!

In case you want your tongue #FiniteElement Model to go eeeewwww. This GIBBON demo features active contraction of mapped "muscle fibers".
I just updated it for FEBio4.

I have a sneaky feeling something might be slightly wrong here...

📢LAST VIDEO OF THE YEAR 😇
Choosing a proper solver can be quite important for #FiniteElement models. In this video, we discuss a bit about various available solvers in #FreeFEM, including #PETSc with which we have access to tremendous number of tools, solvers, and preconditioners to solve the derived linear system of equations more efficiently.

A ridiculous #FiniteElement model for whoever wants to simulate a rubbery propeller hitting a stick.
I just used this to play with a contact algorithm and was curious to see if it would work.

One of the features in #FreeFEM offering flexibility for #FiniteElement models is the regions and sub-domains, which can be used to define different properties in different parts of the mesh, like a multi-material model.

Processing the results is the final step in each simulation study, and there are certain features available in #FreeFEM to do it. Let's have a look at them.

Mastodon #introduction: I'm a computational scientist at Idaho National Laboratory (a US DOE nuclear lab), a developer of the #C++ MOOSE #FiniteElement framework (https://mooseframework.inl.gov), interested in #PhaseField research and computational methods development. I nerd out on #Wikipedia and #OSM #geodata (https://wma.wmcloud.org/), built a pandemic #van, and love #hiking and #camping.

@rafial @Canageek FWIW, I'm encouraging other engineers at my firm to use #Jupyter notebooks. Much of our #StructuralEngineering at present is done with #FiniteElement packages, which are hard to check, or with Excel which is very difficult to debug.
(#Mathcad is also used by some, but it is closed source and files won't necessarily run in different versions.)
