#Fionn Mac Cumhaill and the Fianna came upon the mouth of the #CavesOfKesh, before which sat three hags of evil and revolting aspect. Drewing near they found themselves suddenly entangled in strands of the yarn which the hags had spun about the place like the web of a spider, and deadly faintness and trembling came over them, so that they were easily bound fast by the hags and carried into the dark recesses of the cave.

Deceived by the splendid sight of Midac`s palace that was surrounded by magical rowan trees, #FinnMacCool entered and made himself comfortable in the grand banquet hall. Midac came in, stared at them, and departed without a word. It was then that Fionn and his warriors realized that a trap had been set. They had been deceived by a glamour and were really being held hostage in a crude shack. One after another of the #Fianna warriors came to their rescue, with Diarmait finally lopping off Midacās head.

Isn`t it interesting that #Irelandās two most legendary heroes, were both taught their warrior skills by women? #FinnMacCool was raised in secret in the forests of the #SliabhBloomMountains by his #druidess aunt, Bodhmall, and warrior woman, Liath Luachra. When Bodhmall had taught him all the druid lore she knew, Fionn continued his studies with the Druid Finegas on the banks of the River Boyne. Liath Luachra means āGray of Luachairā, but there is very little known about her, other than that she taught Fionn how to hunt and fight, both skills for which he was renowned and unmatched. Clearly, she did a good job.ā
