Ever since reading her comments on #DontWorryDarling rebutting director #OliviaWilde's baffling and inaccurate description of the movie, then watching a #YouTube video of her eating some of her favorite English foods (her voice, attitude, and that laugh!), I've developed a huge crush on #FlorencePugh.

I already enjoyed her acting, but during that period I learned a tiny bit about her as a person, and she's a bendy delight 💖

And #DWD is pretty good, too bad Olivia sabotaged their #movie.

Just finished watching and I don't understand the open and close, which seem to be an attempt to make this feel more like theater than cinema, or to be a reference to (or swipe at) Dogville or similar filmic pretensions.

It adds nothing, imo, to a good story that holds up strongly as-is as an indictment of religious obsession, male dominance and violence, and the failures of all "modern" societies to care for all, especially our children.

It takes a lot to hold my attention these days, and I was riveted, from start to finish.

#FlorencePugh is astounding in a restrained tour de force performance. BRAVA!
#TheWonder is a wonder to behold.

Midsommar is the Florence Pugh show for me. She carries this entire movie with just her face. Watching this, again, it occurs to me that you could probably do a silent movie cut of this and lose nothing. Just relishing the visuals and gasping at the sudden bursts of violence.

Watched last night. Didn’t think it was very good (except for #FlorencePugh who’s always amazing) but did notice some #Midsommar echoes. “Florence discovers happy community isn’t as idyllic as it seems & also her partner is gaslighting her.” Also more specific things like “Florence watches in horror as someone falls from a height” & “Florence runs off to have a breakdown while her partner does something bizarre in a large group setting.” Anyone else notice references?
