True Black Moon Lilith retrograde in Leo trines Eris retrograde in Aries at 8:41am PDT, rekindling our rebel spirit. We may be aware that our actions are raising eyebrows right now, but we either don't care or actually enjoy rocking the boat. We may revisit situations where we have previously put up with others' stuffy attitudes just to revel in kicking over the apple cart, delighting in the shocked expressions our current boldness may bring.

The Sun in Virgo quintiles Vesta in Gemini at 2:52pm PDT, offering a perfect blend of logic and creativity, curiosity and exploration, boosting our focus while helping makers and word-smiths to fine-tune their crafts. This transit offers a lovely mental space for those of us dedicating ourselves to public service, bringing a delightful sense of satisfaction to the process of problem-solving.

Autumn approaches.
Cyclamen hederifolium
Cyclamens bloom in the autumn and grow through the winter; seeing these shoot up is a sure sign that crunchy autumn leaves and pumpkins are on their way.

You know when you think "My garden is perfect. All the plants are in the right spot and every spot has the right plant."
Ha ha. Me neither.

Venus retrograde in Leo trines Chiron retrograde in Aries at 7:55am PDT. Now is a time to love each other for our humanity and our suffering, not in spite of it. We live in interesting, challenging, and often deeply painful times, interlaced with much beauty, and the capacity for so much love, if we are willing to be raw and vulnerable with each other.

How did it get to be that time of the summer that berries appear? I feel like the academic year just barely ended!

Mercury conjoins Venus in Leo at 8:16am PDT, giving a lift to our thoughts and making us mindful of all that is good in life. It is a lovely transit for artists and writers, creators and appreciators of loveliness. It is also good for conversations about what we need in relationships, and can help us express our desires in more loving and kindly ways.

What do you pair with a perennial specimen plant? Enhance it with complementary colors.
The yellow Lantana in the background flowers all summer, so some annuals like orange Marigolds are perfect. This year, I grew from seed Park Seed's Fireball Marigolds. (Not hard.) The flowers change color from light orange to dark orange so there is a mix of colors all the time. A few of these around the Lantana produced a high-impact corner bed.

#NativePlants are not boring.
Easy to grow, prolific and self-seeding, Black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia) also come in many varieties so that you don't have to plant monotony.
Here are a couple of close-up looks of flowers that I have not posted before. You can buy varieties separately or seed packs of mixes.

More Colors of Summer
Orange - Asiatic Lily
Blue - Chicory
(Not native to the U.S. but everywhere, even used in coffee in New Orleans)
Red - Zinnia (Park's Pick Deep Red, small parts eaten by insect that has no shame)

This landscape feature serves many purposes other than visual impact.
It is a mass planting to attract and serve pollinators. It fills a strip on the "far side" of the driveway. It reduces maintenance: None of these flowers were planted. All arose from last year's natural seeding as they have done for several years.
It even serves as a display for Beloved, who loves Rudbeckia. (I need the extra points.)
Open for vertical photo.
