@jeffjarvis Jeff, we peasants are not "cool" enough for join Post (or John Post?? :).
Seriously, I'm so glad that hundred thousands of people were told to queue and the more people one bring, the sooner you are allowed to John Post ... that whole scheme put me off for wanting to John Post.
Plus my #FoolMeOnce #FoolMeTwice mood taught me not want to be owned or sold by anyone, including John Post. 🤔😃💞💞 #LifelongLearning

@john I think it is an opportunity lost if we simply shift from the bird to #Mastodon without reexamining things. For my key #FoolMeOnce #FoolMeTwice lesson is that I don't want my bird-PlanB to be owned by any private entity. So some have moved to a UI more friendly app. I refuse and use Mastodon instead.

@dangillmor It takes deeper thinking to the problems of "another centralized, for-profit service". This is the first time I read (do you have source?) that Post is funded by a right-winger?
1000% agree "power of FOMO is profound" and some users I respect don't think deep issues and mostly focus on ease of use.
For me, I'm in #FoolMeOnce #FoolMeTwice mood and am conceptually "done" with any centralized, for-profit service. If I want2, I can even start my own instance which is #cool!

@doctorlaura @danciruli @davew @dangillmor I think in 2007, many of us were more carefree (and naive, at least for me) and unaware of the power/horror of misinformation the bird could bring us. Now in 2022, in our mid-Bird/near-post-Bird age, when we decided to go with Mastodon, the danger is clear and present. Giving our collective power of speech to one singular commercial entity becomes an unconscionable decision. As they say, I'm now in the #FoolMeOnce #FoolMeTwice mood.
