I go by Mot. He/him I suppose. Midlife crisis aged. And I live in the Midwest. I #garden and there's plenty of lakes to visit. I get to do #haskell at my job which is nice.

I'm a #gamer and big into #srpgs or any #rpgs. I'm the #ForeverDM for my #ttrpg group. #dnd #pathfinder #knave some others though I frequently #gamedesign my own for a campaign. I struggle to get the writing portion of work done so most of my settings and plots live inside my head.

2 months ago I decided I'd like to run an RPG campaign and started scribbling ideas on paper.

A month ago I finally picked an RPG system to use.

2 weeks ago I started hunting down cool artwork.

A week ago, I started copy-pasting rules from 4 versions of the same game into a document I could send my friends.

And now I'm hunting down a OGL system I could use instead. Because, what use is my super cool illustrated booklet if I cannot show it to complete strangers?

My name is Assaf and I am a character addict. I come up character ideas and backstories all the time and they live rent free in my brain for days, weeks, or years at a time. And as a DM, I almost never get to play them.

One of the things about being a DM for a long time is that you spend a lot of time thinking about the world you put your player characters in. Here is a story that was written as a plot hook / character backstory / world lore event. Again, it's another character that I'll never get to play.

I have started writing my character backstory ideas in a digital notebook. If I ever get to play these characters, I'll have all their stories in one place. And if I don't, well NPCs need backstories too.

#DnD people. I know there are other games and other systems but the ubiquitous nature of D&D makes it the easiest to find groups and on-board new players. As a #ForeverDM I have zero issue finding ways to pair narrative and mechanics and I don't at all feel restricted by genre or setting. This game can be whatever you want it to be. Which is why I'm not super motivated to learn another system. Am I alone? It feels like admitting I'm okay with DnD is a hot take these days.
